Vintage Pennzoil Lollipop Sign: Original 1940's Gas Station Advertising
This is an extremely rare, and highly collector coveted original vintage Pennzoil lollipop sign. It is just one of hundreds of collectible petroliana signs available for sale from ArtFactory.com. This original service station advertising sign from Pennzoil is a double sided, porcelain sign that is oblong in shape, on an original cast iron curbside stand. It is an advertisement for Pennzoil motor oil. The sign has a yellow background with a black border, and a red Pennzoil, Liberty Bell logo in the center. It says "PENNZOIL" in large black lettering at an upward slope across the center of the sign, crossing over the top of the logo It also has trademark advertising slogans "100% Pure Pennsylvania" at the top and "Safe Lubrication" at the bottom, both in smaller black lettering. The sign is 31 inches wide and 18 inches tall, while the stand is 49" tall and 33" wide. This is a must have item for the serious collector, and is perfect for display in and automotive business or service station themed man cave.

Pennzoil Oil Company History
Pennzoil is an American oil company founded in Los Angeles, California in 1913. In 1955, it was acquired by Oil City, Pennsylvania company South Penn Oil, a former branch of Standard Oil. In 1963, South Penn Oil merged with ZapataPetroleum; the merged company took the Pennzoil name. In 1968 United Gas Corporation became part of Pennzoil.(Although United Gas was a larger company, pre-merger, Pennzoil had successfully used a "leveraged buyout" strategy.) During the 1970s, the company moved its offices to Houston, Texas.
