Vintage Red Crown Fueling Station Display – VGS2921

A Fully Working 1930s – 1940s American Roadside Experience

This traditionally built gas station recreates the kind of independent roadside filling station that motorists would have encountered while traveling Historic Route 66 during the 1930s and 1940s.

Description

Created by Master Builder and Artist H.J. Nick and the craftsmen of ArtFactory.com, the station combines authentic period architecture with genuine, fully restored, fully working artifacts from the American Industrial Revolution and the beginning of America’s great motoring age.

This is not a theatrical backdrop filled with reproduction decorations. The visible gas pump, Coca-Cola machine, illuminated neon sign, and supporting station artifacts are the real thing. Each major artifact has been individually restored by ArtFactory.com and H.J. Nick and appears on our webpages as a museum-quality collectible offered for sale.

Together, these historic pieces have been placed back into the environment for which they were originally created.

Built Upon a 10-Foot-by-5-Foot Rolling Platform

The complete station is constructed on a traditional solid-wood and floor-joist platform measuring:

  • 10 feet wide
  • 5 feet deep
  • 8 inches thick
  • Approximately 12 feet to the peak of the gable
  • Hidden heavy-duty casters for controlled movement

The compact design includes a 4-foot-wide covered pump bay and a 6-foot-wide enclosed station building. Although it occupies only 50 square feet of floor space, its architectural height, covered driveway, illuminated signs, visible gas pump, and working store interior create the feeling of a much larger roadside destination.

The hidden casters allow the entire station to be carefully moved in front of a collection of vintage automobiles, inside a museum, within a private gallery, or into an entertainment area — without compromising the station’s historically authentic appearance.

Traditionally Framed and Built to Last Forever

The building is traditionally wood framed and constructed to the highest building standards and the world-class museum standards of H.J. Nick and ArtFactory.com.

Its construction includes substantial floor joists, structural wall and roof framing, genuine wood siding, divided-light windows, a working entrance door, solid canopy posts, a gabled roof, finished architectural trim, and a completely enclosed station interior.

This is not a thin, temporary façade. It is a genuine miniature building, crafted using the same proven methods and attention to detail found in our full-size architectural work.

Every component is hand-fitted, finished, assembled, wired, and tested at ArtFactory.com. It is made in America from natural materials and built with the intention that it will remain in a family, collection, or institution for generations.

A Genuine, Fully Working Visible Gas Pump

Standing beneath the covered pump bay is an authentic Red Crown visible-cylinder gasoline pump — an important surviving artifact from America’s early service-station and automobile history.

This pump has received an ArtFactory.com 101-point museum-quality restoration. It is not simply cleaned up and repainted. It has been carefully disassembled, inspected, restored, reassembled, tested, and returned to fully working condition by H.J. Nick and the ArtFactory.com restoration team.

Its glass visible cylinder, internal measuring mechanism, original-style hardware, hose, nozzle, illuminated globe, finish, graphics, wiring, and operating components have all been restored with great respect for historical accuracy.

The pump is a genuine working artifact of the American Industrial Revolution and the age when the automobile transformed the American landscape. It also appears individually on our website as a fully restored museum-quality gas pump offered for sale.

Placed back beneath a period station canopy, the pump can once again be appreciated in its proper historical setting — not as an isolated object, but as part of the complete story of early American travel.

A Fully Restored and Working Coca-Cola Machine

Beside the station entrance is a genuine vintage Coca-Cola machine that has also been completely restored by ArtFactory.com.

The machine is fully working — not an empty cabinet or non-operating display. Its body, internal components, refrigeration system, hardware, graphics, wiring, and finish have been restored so that it can once again perform the job for which it was originally manufactured.

Like the visible gas pump, this Coca-Cola machine appears individually on our website as a fully restored collectible offered for sale. Within the Route 66 station, however, it becomes part of a much larger experience.

Visitors can see the glowing signs, hear the equipment operating, open the cooler, and enjoy a cold bottle of Coca-Cola while standing beside an authentic visible gasoline pump. The sights, sounds, and physical interaction leave very little to the imagination — you feel as though you have stepped back onto Route 66 during the 1930s or 1940s.

Genuine Neon and Period Advertising

The illuminated Red Crown Gasoline sign mounted prominently in the gable is a genuine neon display restored to operate as intended. Additional Coca-Cola advertising and period-correct station signs complete the composition.

All electrical components and connections are concealed within the architecture. There are no exposed modern wires across the face of the station to interfere with its historic appearance.

The neon, station lighting, gas-pump globe, interior lighting, Coca-Cola machine, and other electrical features can be connected through a discreet plug-and-play system. Once positioned, the station can be plugged in and brought to life.

The lights come on. The neon glows. The gasoline pump illuminates. The Coca-Cola machine cools. What first appears to be a museum display becomes a working piece of American history.

A Working Station Interior

Behind the divided-light windows is a fully enclosed station store. Shelves can be filled with period oil bottles, cans, maps, automotive products, tools, advertisements, and other authentic service-station merchandise.

The interior can also be configured as:

  • A working private office
  • A reception or ticket booth
  • A small bar or serving station
  • A collector’s display room
  • A historically themed retreat
  • An operating store within a larger museum or attraction

Heating and air-conditioning can be added when the station is intended to function as an occupied office or working interior.

This means the project is not limited to being admired from the outside. The owner can step through the door and actually use the building.

Every Artifact Tells Part of the American Story

The visible gasoline pump, Coca-Cola machine, neon signs, oil bottles, service-station advertising, and traditional architecture represent a period when the automobile opened the country and Route 66 became the road to opportunity.

These machines were products of American engineering, manufacturing, invention, and craftsmanship. They served ordinary working people, family travelers, farmers, truck drivers, and entrepreneurs while helping to build the roadside economy of America.

By restoring these objects to full operation and returning them to an authentic architectural setting, we preserve more than machinery. We preserve the ingenuity, independence, and optimism of the American Industrial Revolution.

Fully Built and Tested Before Delivery

The entire installation is built, assembled, wired, finished, illuminated, and tested at ArtFactory.com before it leaves our facility.

The structure and its artifacts are designed as one coordinated installation. Electrical service is concealed, operating equipment is tested, signs are illuminated, doors and windows are fitted, and every architectural detail is inspected.

The completed station can then be transported as a rolling installation or carefully separated into documented sections for shipment. When required, complete video documentation can be provided to assist the owner or local contractor with reassembly.

The result is a true plug-and-play historic environment that can be delivered worldwide.

Designed Around Your Collection and Your Dream

This station demonstrates what ArtFactory.com can create around a client’s own vintage collection — or around genuine artifacts selected from our extensive inventory.

Your custom installation can begin with:

  • A restored gasoline pump
  • A vintage Coca-Cola or Pepsi machine
  • A genuine neon sign
  • A favorite gasoline or automobile brand
  • A particular year or period in American history
  • A collection of vintage automobiles or motorcycles
  • A simple drawing, photograph, or personal memory

We can combine your artifacts with pieces from our collection to create a complete Route 66 gas station, automobile dealership, diner, general store, tire shop, garage, or other historic American business.

We work from precise architectural plans, historic photographs, pencil sketches, and even what we affectionately call “Crayola drawings and a lot of hand movements.” You do not need to arrive with a completed design. You bring us the dream; we develop the engineering and craftsmanship required to bring it to life.

Not Simply a Display — A Working Place in Time

This Historic Route 66 station does more than display valuable antiques. It returns genuine American artifacts to the environment where they belong.

Park an era-correct automobile beside it and the surrounding room begins to disappear. The Red Crown neon glows above the canopy. The visible gas pump is ready for the next traveler. Cold Coca-Cola waits inside the restored machine. The station store is illuminated, and Route 66 appears to stretch beyond the edge of the platform.

For a moment, it is the 1930s or 1940s again — and the promise of the open road has never left.

Designed by Master Builder and Artist H.J. Nick. Hand-built and restored by the master craftsmen of ArtFactory.com. Created to world-class museum standards. Built in America to last forever.

Not merely a collection of artifacts, but an authentic, fully working chapter of American history — built around your dream and ready to come alive.
