This is an original vintage Gargoyle Mobiloil neon sign that was manufactured in the 1930's, and was originally part of a lollipop style curbside display. This is an original condition vintage porcelain sign with fully rebuilt neon and electrical, and measures 23 1/2 inches in diameter (23 Pounds Total Weight). It is the type of sign that is large enough to be a central display piece, while not being so large that it dominates your wall space. Like all of our collectible signs, this vintage Gargoyle Mobiloil neon sign is sold in original, unrestored condition, as pictured. We do not believe in restoring old signs because it is our belief that every ding, dent, and blemish is part of the story and history of the item. This porcelain enamel sign is in VeryGood/Good (VG/G) condition overall, and the sign face has its fair shard of dings, dents, and blemishes, but is still a very nice example of this nearly 90-year-old item. There are several large dings that are consistent with damage from wind blown objects hitting it, meaning this sign was likely displayed outdoors.
The only exception being the 101 point, museum quality neon restoration, which is done under the supervision of, certified, and signed by award winning artist H.J. Nick as meeting all world class fine are qualifications. This certification means each item bearing his signature is backed by over 100 years of manufacturing world class fine art handmade furnishings, and restoring America's finest collectibles to original, museum quality condition. All neon restored by our in house glass blowers, who have blown new glass using the same techniques and materials that were used for the original neon. Also, any electrical parts including wiring and solid state transformers have been replaced. The neon features a separate on/off toggle pull cord as pictured.
