This rare, Oldsmobile 1920's neon sign is an original collectible dealership advertisement. At ArtFactory.com we have on of the largest selections of original, neon, lighted, and vintage collectible signs for sale anywhere, guaranteed authentic, and backed by over a century of experience. The classic sign is round in shape and is 42 inches wide by 42 inches tall, and is a round porcelain sign with neon on a 5 inch deep heavy metal housing can. It has a blue background in the outer area, and an orange background in the center. The outer area of the sign reads "OLDSMOBILE SERVICE" in white lettering against the blue background, and the lettering lights up with white neon. The outer border of the sign lights up with blue neon. The center of the sign has an orange background and a white/black/brown "Winged Spur Crest" which was only used by Oldsmobile for hood ornaments and signage in the late 1920's And Early 1930's. It lights up in orange neon around the border of the center and border of the crest. The sign is not dated, but was manufactured in the late 1920's due to it having this crest. To top it all off, this Oldsmobile 1920's neon sign features a separate on/off toggle pull cord, as pictured, so the sign can easily be turned on and off without unplugging. This Oldsmobile 1920's Neon Sign is in Excellent Plus (EXL +) condition overall. It does not appear that this sign was displayed outdoors, as the chipping is not consistent with the type of damage you would see if the sign was struck by a wind blown object (extremely common for outdoor signs). This Oldsmobile 1920's neon sign is a rare find in itself, and is as clean of an example of this now 100-year-old sign that you will find, that was actually used.

ArtFactory.com 101 Point Neon Restoration Details
We do not believe in restoring damage such as dings, dents, scratches, or damage to porcelain enamel. Restoring damage to vintage porcelain signs is frowned upon in the collector community because there is simply no way to repair this type of damage that is consistent with the standards of a museum quality restoration. Most often attempts at this type of restoration leaves the item looking worse than its original condition. Furthermore, it is our belief that every ding, dent, and blemish is part of that item's unique history, and helps to tell its story. The only exception to this is when dealing with neon and electrical components.
That is why this vintage Oldsmobile 1920's neon sign has received a 101 point, world class fine art and museum quality, neon and electrical restoration. This means that all electrical components have been replaced, including any wiring, mounts, switches, and ALL SOLID STATE TRANSFORMERS. The neon tubes are hand blown and hand bent by our in-house master glass blowers using historically correct techniques. This restoration is completed according to the specifications, and under the supervision of, award winning artist H.J. Nick. An item does not receive his brass tag signature certification until it has been found to meet all world class fine art qualifications. This certification means each item bearing his signature is backed by over 100 years of manufacturing world class fine art handmade furnishings, and restoring America's finest collectibles to original, museum quality condition. Also, any electrical parts including wiring and solid state transformers and flashers have been replaced.

Oldsmobile "Winged Spur" Emblem 1920's - 1930's And Various Years
This crest included many elements symbolizing Oldsmobile's increasing prominence in the automobile industry. The winged spur at its center represented harnessing horsepower; the acorns acknowledged Oldsmobile as a seed that helped grow the automobile industry. Also included is the Lamp of Knowledge and micrometer and a triangle signifying research, exactness and precision. This crest would continue to be used on various models and hub caps.
The Winged Spur appeared on such vehicles as the 1934 Oldsmobile Six Touring Coupe complete with "trunk, built into the body." In 1939, Oldsmobile would introduce 1940 models with the industry's first fully automatic transmission.
