Founded circa 1916, the Pan-Am Petroleum & Transport Company quickly became a trusted national brand for premium gasoline and motor oils. In the late 1920s, Pan-Am was acquired by Standard Oil of Indiana (later Amoco), and the Pan-Am brand was eventually retired — making surviving signs from this era increasingly rare and highly collectible.
