Colonial Bread Company History
Colonial Bread Co. is a baking company that was founded in 1925 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The company was established by a group of bakers who believed that they could produce high-quality bread using the best ingredients and traditional baking methods.
In the early days, Colonial Bread Co. delivered its bread to customers by horse-drawn wagons. Over time, the company expanded its operations, and by the 1930s, it had several bakeries and delivery trucks. During World War II, the company was awarded contracts to bake bread for the U.S. military, which helped to further grow its business.
In the post-war era, Colonial Bread Co. continued to expand, and by the 1960s, it had become one of the largest baking companies in the Southeastern United States. The company was known for its signature white bread, which was made with a special recipe that included milk and honey.
