The Story of the Diamond 760 Motor Oil Neon Sign
On highways across America in the 1940s and 1950s, neon signs were more than advertisements — they were beacons of light for weary travelers. One such beacon belonged to a small but determined petroleum brand: Diamond Motor Oil.
Unlike the giants of the industry, Diamond didn’t have the resources of Texaco or Shell. What it had instead was a distinctive identity — bold red diamonds, numbers that spoke to performance and glowing neon signs that promised reliability in every drop of oil.
This particular sign, manufactured by the legendary Veribrite Signs of Chicago, once hung proudly outside a filling station.
Veribrite was known for crafting some of the most durable and beautiful porcelain enamel signs of the era. Their work survived decades of weather, wear, and roadside grime.
