Metal lighted sign - 19 1/2" W x 9" H x 3 1/2" D

This vintage Coca Cola sign is housed in a metal case, with a standard outlet plug, and chain-pull on-off switch. This antique sign features the "Drink Coca-Cola" slogan in the classic Coke red and white logo, with a sign topper that reads "Please Pay At Counter" in green with a white background.

Coca Cola Sign Collectors History

Coca-Cola was born in 1886 when Dr. John Pemberton, a pharmacist, decided to try his hand at creating a soft drink for the popular soda fountains of the day. Frank Robertson created the familiar Coca-Cola logo and script and registered the formula with the patent office. It did not do well its first year and Pemberton died before seeing how popular his new creation would become. In 1891, Asa Candler became the owner of the company and this was the turning point for the brand. He hired traveling salesmen and had them pass out coupons for a free Coca-Cola to get people to try it. He also began putting the logo on calendars and notebooks to try to expand from regional to nationwide. By 1909 there were over 300 Coca-Cola bottling plants. In 1916 a contest was held to design a new bottle and the now iconic Coca-Cola bottle shape was chosen. By 1920, Coca-Cola could be found across the country.
