The top left corner of the sign reads "En vente ici", which translates to "On Sale Here" in English. Furthermore, it lights up in blue neon around the edge of the sign, and on the lettering "MOBILGAS". The Pegasus logo lights up in red neon, with flashing wings as pictured.
Like all of our collectible signs, this vintage MobilOil neon Pegasus sign is sold in original, unrestored condition, as pictured. We do not believe in restoring old signs because it is our belief that every ding, dent, and blemish is part of the story and history of the item. The porcelain enamel sign is in Excellent Plus (Exl+) condition overall, and is as clean of an example of this now over 70-year-old sign, as you will find for sale. With only a few VERY small chips to the porcelain on the sign face, many would grade this sign as Near Mint, but we always round down a grade if its close. Any blemishes, which are few to begin with are extremely minor, and barely visible. There are no large dings from wind blown objects, meaning this sign was never displayed outdoors.

History Of French/Canadian MobilOil Signs
The history of French Canadian Mobil signs dates back to the early 20th century when the Mobil Oil Company, a subsidiary of ExxonMobil, began its operations in Canada. Mobil was one of the major players in the oil industry, and its iconic Pegasus logo became a familiar sight across the country.
In French-speaking regions of Canada, such as Quebec, Mobil's signage and advertising materials were adapted to accommodate the language preferences of the local population. This adaptation included translating slogans, taglines, and other promotional content into French.
The Mobil signs in French Canadian regions typically featured the company's logo, often accompanied by slogans or messages in French. These signs served not only as markers for Mobil gas stations but also as prominent advertising displays that helped to establish and reinforce the brand's presence in the market.
Over the years, Mobil's signage in French Canada evolved alongside changes in advertising trends and branding strategies. While the basic elements of the Mobil brand remained consistent, there were likely variations in design and messaging to appeal to the specific cultural and linguistic nuances of the French Canadian audience.
Despite Mobil's rebranding as ExxonMobil in the late 20th century, the iconic Pegasus logo and Mobil signage continued to be recognizable features of gas stations in French Canada. Today, although the Mobil brand might not be as prevalent as it once was, its historical significance in the Canadian oil industry, including its presence in French-speaking regions, remains an important part of the country's commercial landscape.
