Description
Richfield Eagle Neon Sign: Rare Original Storefront Petroliana Sign
This vintage Richfield Eagle neon sign is original storefront advertising, and is a single sided, round, porcelain enamel sign. The sign is not dated, but based on the style of the logo and material, was manufactured in the 1940's, as later examples are plastic. The Richfield Eagle is an iconic roadside image from the "Golden Age of the American Open Road". It is an extra large sign, measuring 59 inches in diameter (Total Weight 137 Pounds) making it a centerpiece sized item. Like all of our collectible advertising signs, this vintage Richfield Eagle neon sign is an authentic, collectible gasoline advertisement, and sold in original, unrestored condition, however, this sign is in excellent condition, and is mostly free of the dings, dents, and rust spots that you usually see on a sign of this age. We do not believe in restoring vintage signs, because it is our belief that any blemishes are part of the story and history of the item.
The only exception being the 101 point, museum quality neon restoration, which is done under the supervision of, certified, and signed by award winning artist H.J. Nick as meeting all world class fine are qualifications. This certification means each item bearing his signature is backed by over 100 years of manufacturing world class fine art handmade furnishings, and restoring America's finest collectibles to original, museum quality condition. All neon restored by our in house glass blowers, who have blown new glass using the same techniques and materials that were used for the original neon. Also, any electrical parts including wiring and solid state transformers have been replaced. The neon features a separate on/off toggle pull cord as pictured.

Richfield Gasoline History
Richfield gasoline has a history that dates back to the early 20th century. The Richfield Oil Corporation was founded in 1905 in Los Angeles, California. It became known for its high-quality gasoline and was a prominent player in the oil industry during the mid-20th century.
In 1966, Richfield merged with the Atlantic Refining Company, which then became part of the Atlantic Richfield Company (ARCO). ARCO continued to use the Richfield brand for its gasoline for several years, particularly in certain regional markets.
However, the Richfield brand began to fade as ARCO focused more on its own brand and eventually sold its retail operations. By the late 1980s and early 1990s, the Richfield name was largely phased out in favor of the ARCO brand.
Today, the Richfield name is a part of the historical legacy of the American oil industry, remembered primarily through the ARCO brand and its associated history.
