Vintage Neon Shell Sign: Original Porcelain, Fully Restored Neon
This is an original vintage Shell neon sign that was displayed as roadside advertising in the 1940's. This is an extra large sign measuring 48 inches tall by 47 inches wide, and is 5 inches deep including the housing can, and is the type of large sign that is often used as a collection centerpiece. This authentic gasoline advertisement for Shell gas stations is just one of hundreds of original, collectible petroliana signs currently available from ArtFactory.com. It is a genuine, single sided, "RAISED EMBOSSED" porcelain enamel sign. The die cut, shell shaped sign has a yellow background with a red details and lettering, and a red outline around the border of the sign. It reads "Shell" in raised embossed, red lettering. The neon lights up in yellow neon around the edges of the sign, and to highlight the detail areas of the Shell graphic, and lights up in white neon around the lettering of the word "SHELL", as pictured.
Like all of our collectible signs, this vintage Shell neon sign is sold in original, unrestored condition as pictured. We do not believe in restoring old signs because it is our belief that every ding, dent, and blemish is part of the story and history of the item. The only exception being the 101 point, museum quality neon restoration, which is done under the supervision of, certified, and signed by award winning artist H.J. Nick as meeting all world class fine are qualifications. This certification means each item bearing his signature is backed by over 100 years of manufacturing world class fine art handmade furnishings, and restoring America's finest collectibles to original, museum quality condition. All neon restored by our in house glass blowers, who have blown new glass using the same techniques and materials that were used for the original neon. Also, any electrical parts including wiring and solid state transformers have been replaced. The neon features a separate on/off toggle pull cord as pictured.
