Hood Tires Neon Sign: Original Vintage Collectible Automobilia

This is an original vintage Hood Tires neon sign from the Hood Rubber Company circa 1920s-1940s that has had all neon and electrical components fully rebuilt by our experts. The sign has a white background with red and blue accents. This vintage Hood Tires sign features a double arrow along the top with white text "Hood" in the red top section, and "Tires" in the blue lower section, both of which light up with white neon. The middle features a red block with "HOOD" in white letters that light up in white neon, and "TIRES" in red on the white bottom banding that lights up in red neon. There is a blue outline along the top and bottom. It is a large, 5 foot tall by 18 inch wide rectangular sign, and is on a 5 inch deep heavy metal can. The manufacturer's stamp reads "9-7827-HT Stout Sign Co., St. Louis, Mo.", and is printed in red along the bottom right of this vintage tin sign. This is a 101 point neon and electrical restoration sign by award winning artist H.J. Nick, and all neon, SOLID STATE TRANSFORMERS, wiring, mounts, and electrical parts have been fully rebuilt or replaced by our experts. The neon features a separate on/off toggle pull cord as pictured.

Hood Rubber Company History

Frederic and Arthur Hood, trained under their father and after the U.S. Rubber Co. failed in Franklin and Chelsea, MA, founded a factory in 1896 in East Watertown. During the early years, Hood hired many immigrant Armenians and was mainly responsible for the development of East Watertown into an Armenian neighborhood. Hood had its own auxiliary fire department and alarm system. It took half an hour to cover hood's 88 acres. By 1920, the company employed ten thousand men and women.
