This vintage Imperial Ice Cream sign is an original, that was manufactured in the 1920's. It is a die cut (crown shaped) genuine vintage porcelain enamel sign. This extra large advertisment measures 50 inches at its widest point by 21 inches at its tallest point. This genuine double sided drug store sign has a yellow background with black logos, graphics and lettering. The sign reads "Imperial Ice Cream "Of Course"" and there is a gleaming crown logo in the top portion of the sign. Imperial Ice Cream Company History
The Imperial Ice Cream Co. was organized in 1908, and built its Hunginton, West Virginia Plant in 1921. It was acquired by Farimont Foods of Omaha, Nebraska in 1945. In 1954, plant manager John W. File said that the plant produced 900,000 gallons of ice cream and sherbets each year. The ice cream was later marketed under the brand name "Fairmont Imperial".
