Red Crown Gasoline Sign: Vintage Neon Gas Station Petroliana
This vintage neon Red Crown Gasoline sign is original storefront advertising, and is an original condition, single sided, round, porcelain enamel sign with a 101 point neon and electrical restoration. The sign is dated at the bottom as pictured, and was manufactured in the 1923. The Red Crown is an iconic roadside image from the "Golden Age of the American Open Road". It is an extra large sign, measuring 42 inches in diameter (Total Weight 62 Pounds) making it a centerpiece sized item. This sign has a white background and red lettering that reads "RED CRPOWN GASOLINE" around the outer part of the sign. There is a blue border at the outer edge of the sign, and another blue stripe in the middle area of the sign that encircles the red, Red Crown Gasoline, crown logo graphic that is in the center of the sign. The sign lights up with white colored neon around each of blue stripes, and lights up with red colored neon around the border of the lettering "RED CRPOWN GASOLINE".
Like all of our collectible advertising signs, this vintage neon Red Crown Gasoline sign is an authentic, collectible gasoline advertisement, and sold in original, unrestored condition, however, this sign is in Excellent/Very Good (Exl/VG) condition, and is mostly free of the dings, dents, and rust spots that you usually see on a sign of this age, with only some very small and very light marks scattered on the sign face, but not any of significant size. We do not believe in restoring vintage signs, because it is our belief that any blemishes are part of the story and history of the item. The only exception being the 101 point, museum quality neon restoration, which is done under the supervision of, certified, and signed by award winning artist H.J. Nick as meeting all world class fine are qualifications. The neon features a separate on/off toggle pull cord as pictured.

Restoring damage to vintage porcelain signs is frowned upon in the collector community because there is simply no way to repair this type of damage that is consistent with the standards of a museum quality restoration.
