This is an original vintage Esso Oil Drop Man sign was displayed at Esso (now ExxonMobil) gas stations in the 1950's through the 1960's. This authentic gasoline advertisement features the popular "Oil Drop Man", whose name was Happy. The character first appeared in the United States in 1958, and he was always accompanied by the slogan "Happy Motoring". He often appeared in a red convertible, with his presumed girlfriend "Oil Drop Woman". The character was most famous for its appearances on Esso's popular travel maps.
