Description
A Glowing Legacy: The History Behind Massey-Harris
In 1891, Massey merged with A. Harris, Son & Co. Ltd., forming Massey-Harris Limited—which quickly grew to become the largest agricultural equipment manufacturer in the British Empire. The brand became synonymous with innovation, from horse-drawn implements to gasoline-powered tractors.
Innovation That Changed the World
Massey-Harris didn’t just keep pace—they led the charge. In 1938, the company unveiled the first commercially successful self-propelled combine harvester, revolutionizing crop harvesting across North America.
During World War II, they pivoted from plows to production lines for military vehicles, all while maintaining their agricultural roots. After the war, their global reach extended throughout Europe, the Commonwealth, and beyond—paving the way for modern farming as we know it.
