Osh Kosh B'gosh Thermometer: Vintage Porcelain Work Wear Sign
This vintage Osh Kosh B'Gosh thermometer sign is just one of many vintage thermometer signs available from ArtFactory.com. These were an especially popular form of advertising in the 1950's-1960's, however, this rare thermometer is slightly older, and is an original 1940's era advertisement. This now 80-years-old mercury thermometer is in working condition. It is a 4 color sign with a primarily red background in the outer area, a yellow background in the inner area, and a white background in the center where the mercury thermometer is. It reads "Osh Kosh B'Gosh" at the top in stylized white lettering, with a black outline. Just below it reads "WORK WEAR" in yellow lettering with a black border. The bottom of the sign reads "The World's Best Overalls" in yellow lettering with black border, and the very bottom reads "Union Made" in yellow lettering. The thermometer measures 26 inches tall by 10 inches wide, and is perfect for display in your old general store themed game room, man cave, or lady lounge. This old, Osh Kosh B'Gosh thermometer sign, and all of our vintage signs are sold in original, unrestored condition because we believe any dings, dents and blemish are part of the history and story of the item. This sign is in Excellent/Very Good (EXL/VG) condition overall, and is for the most part an extremely clean example of the sign. The only exception being at the bottom edge of the sign, where there is a significant amount of wear, as pictured. Advertising thermometers were a popular item between the 1920's and 1960's, with this 1940's era sign being an older example of the advertising type. Thermometers were distributed by a great number of brands. Common antique and vintage thermometers include the round ones resembling a clock face, with a hand pointing to the temperature. The vertical rectangular (such as this sign), or cigar-shaped thermometers with a mercury meter in the middle were also popular. Thermometers reached their peak popularity in the 1950's and 1960's, with some advertising thermometers, such as this, were often in the shape of a bottle. Common advertising thermometer brands including Coca-Cola, Pepsi, Dr. Pepper, Mail Pouch Tobacco, Hills Bros.
