Vintage Rhinelander Butter Sign: "We Sell At Lot Of Butter"
This is an original, 13 1/4 inch wide by 9 1/4 inch tall, vintage Rhineland Butter sign. It is a thick, heavy single sided metal sign, is rectangular in shape, and horizontally oriented. It features a cardboard display stand on the back so that it can be either displayed on a flat surface with the stand, or hung on a wall. It was originally used as advertising at grocery stores and markets in the 1950's. This is an original sign, and is was manufactured by the Scioto Sign Company of Kenton, Ohio, per the maker's mark on the back of the sign. The sign has a blue background and has a yellow and white stripe that goes around the sign just inside of the border. The sign reads "We Sell A Lot Of Rhinelander Butter", with the words "We Sell A Lot Of" in yellow lettering, the word "RHINELANDER" in large black with red border lettering, and the word "Butter" is in yellow lettering with a red border. Just below it reads "Pound & Half Pound Cartons" in smaller white lettering, with a graphic of each size carton below. Advertising signs featuring the type of art deco inspired graphics seen here are highly collector coveted, making this a perfect display piece for either your man cave of lady lounge.
