Pennzoil "Sound Your Z" Sign: Vintage 1950 Porcelain Petroliana

This is a rare original vintage Pennzoil "Sound Your Z" sign from 1950, for Pennzoil Company lubricants. This vintage porcelain enamel sign reads "PENNZOIL" in black diagonally across the red Liberty Bell logo on a yellow background. The top flap features the advertising slogan from that era, "Sound Your Z". Above the logo it says "100% Pure Pennsylvania" and below it reads "Safe Lubrication", in black lettering. This sign is 16 1/2 inches wide by 12 inches tall and is an irregular die cut shape. This extremely rare and hard to find sign was manufactured by the Allen-Morrison Sign Company of Lynchburg, Virginia, and is dated July 1950. This sign, is in Excellent Plus (Exl +) condition overall with some scuffing at the top edge of the sign, mostly on side one, being the only significant visible blemishes to the sign. Otherwise the sign face is extremely clean, and some would even consider this a possible Near Mint example due to its age. We always round down a grade if its close, but this is as nice of an example of this sign as you are going to find on the market (excluding new old stock examples). In other words, it is an extremely clean example of this now, 75-year-old sign.
