White Rose Gasoline Historical Information
White Rose gasoline is a brand that was popular in Canada during the mid-20th century. It was owned and operated by the Canadian oil company, White Rose Oil Refining Company Limited. The history of White Rose gasoline dates back to 1903 when the company was founded in Ontario, Canada. It initially started as a small refinery in Toronto, producing lubricants and other petroleum-based products. Over time, the company expanded its operations and began producing gasoline as well.
White Rose gasoline gained prominence in the 1930s and 1940s when it became a well-known brand across Canada. The company had a distinct logo featuring a white rose flower, which became a recognizable symbol associated with the brand. During World War II, White Rose gasoline played a significant role in supporting the war effort. The company supplied fuel for military vehicles, aircraft, and other essential machinery. This helped establish the brand's reputation for reliability and quality.
In the post-war era, White Rose gasoline continued to thrive as a popular choice among Canadian consumers. The company expanded its distribution network, and its gasoline stations became a familiar sight along Canadian roads. However, in the 1960s, the Canadian oil industry underwent significant changes and consolidation. The larger oil companies began acquiring smaller, independent brands, including White Rose. In 1962, British American Oil (now BP Canada) acquired White Rose Oil Refining Company Limited, and the White Rose brand eventually faded away.
